About Me
Clinical Psychologist
BA (Hons) MPsych (Clin) MAPS
Before completing my Masters of Clinical Psychology, I worked in research at a neuroscience institute. This fostered my curiosity for understanding brain function and how our brains create psychological pain, which in turn solidified my passion for effective psychological therapy.
My role in research also turned me into an advocate for high-quality research. I seek to stay current with the latest research findings that can inform my practice. However, I have come to learn that there is no 'one' right way, and that my clients expertise on their own experience is just as important. Effective therapy is about being guided by both knowledge and the individual experience.
When I am not ‘psychology-ing’, I work in my unpaid role as a parent to two school-aged kids. We love camping, and dragging our kids along for hikes. I try my hand at lots of different hobbies including gardening, art, and more recently mountain bike riding.
A little more about me as a therapist
Every therapist is a little different in how they practice. Here is an overview of some of the principles that guide my practice

Collaboration
Psychological therapy is not something you 'receive' but rather 'do'. By working in true collaboration, the strides we make towards your goals will surpass anything achieved independently.

No Rain, No Flowers
Just as muscles strengthen through challenge, personal growth thrives when we stretch beyond our comfort zone. Therapy is about finding the right amount of challenge to foster your growth, and knowing you’re not alone on the journey
Self Expertise
I can provide you with a wealth of knowledge about the mind, and powerful reflections, but I will never know you better than you. My role is to enrich your understanding into your own mind, empowering you to trust yourself, and be able to become your own self expert

Transparency
I believe in transparency, not illusions. My aim is to demystify therapy, guiding you to become self-reliant. Ultimately, I work towards a future where you won't need me, because you'll have the tools to guide yourself.
Science informed practice
My practice is guided by the 'scientist-practitioner' model, which means I apply treatments and interventions with strong backing from contemporary scientific research. Simultaneously, I recognize the bounds of scientific knowledge and remain attuned to your unique personal needs, ensuring that our therapeutic approach is both evidence-based and individually tailored.
Consistent Commitment
Humans like status quo, and are deeply driven by habit. Therefore no matter how profound the insight, change doesn’t happen unless we can consistently take steps in a new direction.
Services

Individual Therapy
In individual therapy sessions, you can expect a private and supportive environment where we focus solely on your personal growth and recovery. These sessions are ideal for addressing specific psychological issues, exploring self-awareness, and developing coping strategies that cater to your individual needs.

Couples Therapy
Couples therapy provides a space for you and your partner to navigate relationship challenges together. Expect open communication, conflict resolution skills, and strategies to deepen your connection.

Family Therapy
Family therapy seeks to address the dynamics within your family system. It emphasises the parents' integral role and taps into their innate capacity to support their child's recovery and well-being. Family therapy is the preferred treatment modality for adolescents with eating disorders.

What Conditions Do I Treat
Eating Disorders
Struggling with eating habits and feeling stressed about body weight or shape can be overwhelming. Eating disorders are more common than you might think, affecting people from all walks of life. Treatment is about finding a healthier balance with food and a more positive view of yourself. We work towards a healthier, more peaceful relationship with food and your body
ARFID
Often mis-labelled as ‘fussy eating’, ARFID is actually better understood as a type of phobia. It is often associated with a very low appetite, and a very sensitivity to certain tastes, textures or smells. This leads a person to become extremely limited in what they feel able to eat. As a result, people with ARFID can experience a number of health consequences. It can also make social situations so anxiety provoking, that you may find yourself avoiding these situations all together
Relationships Distress
Healthy relationships are foundational to our well-being, yet maintaining them can be challenging. Therapy can enhance relationships by improving communication, building trust, and developing mutual understanding among partners or family members. The goal is to equip individuals with the tools to create and maintain meaningful and satisfying connections.
Anxieties and Phobias
Anxiety disorders and phobias represent a widespread category of mental health concerns. They often get in the way of meaningful activities, leading to people feeling weighed down and held back in life. The therapeutic journey aims to empower individuals with strategies to regain confidence and reduce the influence of anxiety and phobias on their lives.
Depression and Low Mood
Experiencing depression can be confusing and isolating. It often feels hopeless, and you might no longer find joy in life, making everything seem meaningless. Treatment involves building the right skills for you, so you can start taking steps toward building a life that feels worthwhile and fulfilling.
Trauma and PTSD
Dealing with the impacts of trauma can be debilitating. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can affect anyone who has gone through distressing events, leaving them feeling stuck and overwhelmed. Treatment starts with creating a safe space where you can be confident to navigate these difficult emotions and memories. From there we work together to resolve the symptoms so you can move forward.
